Volunteer IPU Ward Assistant
Volunteer Role Description
Our Inpatient Unit is looking for volunteer Ward Assistants to help support the team at various times across the weekend. We have shifts available every other Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon, Sunday morning and Sunday evening. Morning shifts are 09.00 to 13.00. Afternoon shifts are 13.00 to 17.00. Evening shifts are 17.00 to 20.00.
Some of the tasks include:-
- Undertake duties in the ward kitchen and laundry room, maintaining stocks and keep them clean and tidy.
- To offer assistance where needed for patients, including assisting with meal ordering, meal times and drinks. Act as a companion and ensure they are comfortable when required
- To provide assistance to the Occupational Therapists in activities as required.
All volunteers will receive training to support them in their role.

St Elizabeth Hospice has a volunteer mileage/expenses policy which allows volunteers to claim expenses and mileage incurred whilst carrying out their role for the hospice.
