Take on First-ever Sunset Walk

08 April 2025

St Elizabeth East Coast Hospice is calling on supporters to participate in the charity’s inaugural Sunset Walk along Great Yarmouth seafront this July.

Taking place on 5 July, Sunset Walk will see supporters take on a sponsored 5-mile route starting and finishing at Wellesley Recreation Ground – home of Great Yarmouth Town Football Club.

The event, sponsored by Stowen Group, encourages supporters to don their brightest outfits and bring their biggest smiles as they complete their walking challenges which will pass a number of local landmarks including the Venetian Waterways and Pleasure Beach.

James Fox-Golding, Events and Challenges Manager at the hospice, said: “We are so pleased to bring our first-ever Sunset Walk to Great Yarmouth.

“Thank you to Great Yarmouth Town Football Club for their kind support. It is sure to be a brilliant evening, as supporters and the local community take on this unique walk as the sun sets along the iconic Great Yarmouth seafront. Bring your family and friends, dress in bright costumes, and help us create a night to remember as we honour loved ones, while supporting your local hospice service.”

Sunset Walk will take place in July 2025

Entry costs £12 for adults and £8 for children (aged 10 to 17-years-old). All funds raised will go towards St Elizabeth East Coast Hospice which, in partnership with East Coast Community Healthcare, has cared for more than 6,000 patients and their families in Great Yarmouth and Waveney since launching in April 2019.

This in-memory walk also offers participants the chance to honour loved ones by adding a tribute to memory wall which will be located at Great Yarmouth Town Football Club.

The walk is estimated to take between 1 hour 15 minutes to 2 hours to complete, with walkers setting off at 8.30pm before crossing the line to receive a medal to celebrate their achievement.

There are also opportunities to volunteer at the event, with a variety of roles available, including registration, front or back walker, and handing out medals.
